Fund Raiser & Awareness Event (8.00am to 10.30am). |

The Sikh Community in Singapore
will be organising a fund raising and awareness event on Down
syndrome at the Central Sikh Temple. Prayers will be also
conducted to commemorate the WDSD. Down Syndrome Association
(Singapore) will be mounting a mini awareness road show at
the Temple. Participants will be asked to donate towards supporting
the programmes and services of the Association. This event
is jointly organised by all Sikh institutions in Singapore.
The Guest of Honour will be Dr Mohamad Maliki Osman,
Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Community Development,
Youth & Sports. |

- DSA Charity Bowl |

A fund raising event comprising
about 36 teams from Clubs, Associations, Societies, Schools,
Corporate sponsors with 50% participation rate from members
with Down syndrome. The Guest of Honour will be Dr
Chong Weng Chiew, MP for Tanjong Pagar GRC (Radin Mas).

- Buddy Walk |

A public awareness event with
schools, corporate sponsors and DSA members in an interesting
part of Singapore. The objective of the Race/Walk is to form
the WDSD logo/icon as pieces of the puzzle can be collected
from each station after a member performs a task. The
Guest of Honour will be Ms Theodora Tan, Principal of CHIJ
Secondary with Ms Kristin Van Burm, Chairperson, DSA (Singapore). |

– Official Launch of the WDSD |

| with participation from schools,
corporate supporters, DSA members and overseas guests. There
will be a specially choreographed performance to showcase
the talents and abilities of persons with Down syndrome as
they participate in an inclusive community. The Guest
of Honour will be Dr Vivian Balakrisnan, Minister for Community

WDSD Educational Seminar |

The Guest of Honour
will be Dr Amy Khor, Mayor, South West District.
The proposed Educational Seminar aims to provide a platform
for discussion of current issues in inclusion. DSA also aspires
to be a professional organisation that provides such a platform
for discussion of global issues pertaining to Down syndrome.
In addition, it will be a value-add for regional delegates
of the conference to share and participate in the seminar.

on the seminar. In addition a Round Table Discussion on Globalisation
will also be held. The proposed Round Table Discussion aims
to provide a platform for Board members or their representatives
of international NGOs like Down Syndrome International (DSI),
International Association for the Scientific Study of Intellectual
Disability (IASSID), Asia Pacific Down Syndrome Federation
(APDSF), Asian Federation on Mental Retardation (AFMR), Rehabilitation
International (RI) and Disabled People’s International
(DPI) etc. to share their views and arrive at a mutual understanding
on a topic of common interest or concern. The topic for discussion
will centre on “ Are persons with disabilities
being excluded in this era of globalisation?”
