My Dear Friends,

In my role as President of Down Syndrome International, I wish everybody a lively and effective World Down Syndrome Day on March 21st. I send my thanks and best wishes to all those in the world with Down syndrome, who provide such a valuable contribution to our world, enriching our lives and understanding. This is the day to celebrate their abilities.

It is hoped that this day will gradually become better known and celebrated world wide to enhance people’s knowledge and appreciation of people with Down syndrome. It is a pleasure to see the different ways in which countries are celebrating the day. We hope by sharing these ideas and events it will provide ideas and inspiration for more countries each year to acknowledge the day.

I send our thanks to Singapore for again hosting this website and sharing the news from each country. It takes a few years for a new idea to catch the imagination and encourage participation. We hope that next year even more countries and organizations will participate and plan an event for March 21st.

I look forward to hearing from many of you with ideas of how to increase world community knowledge or just to include your good wishes for this day.

With kind regards,

Josephine Mills

President
Down Syndrome International
