Just to let you know that March 21st will be celebrated in our country this year, for the first time by our Association. It is called "Iliaktida"-which in English means.

Sunray- and it was founded by parents and friends of people with Down Syndrome.

We are organizing an awareness day (from 9.30-17.00) in Athens. There will be many Greek speakers from different fields (research,medical,psychological,educational etc) some of which will come from abroad,who will give useful information to parents, doctors, teachers and others who may be interested in becoming more aware of the needs, differences and uniqueness of people with Down Syndrome. We are very excited to have amongst the speakers Professor Stylianos Antonarakis, who was the first to propose there should be a day dedicated to people with D.S.

Straight after this,there will follow an evening musical event for young people in order to make them more aware of the necessity to learn to live with and accept people with D.S in our society.

Our motto is:.....To know means to accept and to accept means to love.
