Successful WDSD concert is now behind us - Slovenia
The big charity concert we planned for World Down Syndrome Day 2014 (we had announced it here.) was a big success. It was titled Let’s Step Together For Planet 47 and was organized together with Slovenian national television where it was aired live in prime time. It was also transmitted live on one of our national radio programs and later screened on Italian RAI3 TV.
Many famous Slovenian and a coupe of Croatian musicians came to perform at the concert to support our cause. Even the president of our country, Mr Borut Pahor, agreed to be our honorary patron. To see what we do and how we do it, he visited one of the workshops we carry out together with the center for people with hearing and speaking problems.
Thanks to the concert we’ve collected over 60.000 € donations so far. We are most grateful to all who support our work in the Planet 47 Centre where most of our educational programs and workshops are carried out.
The concert was hosted by a well-known Slovenian actress Violeta Tomič and co-hosted by Andreja, a girl with Down syndrome who is one of our protégés.
Throughout the event, music was interlaced with dancing and short videos – remakes of scenes from a classic Slovenian children’s film Kekec. These short cuts were recorded at the end of Planet 47’s acting workshop (it was tutored by the above mentioned actress) in Lipica Stables, where the famous white horses are bred and where some of our children came into contact with these amazing animals for the first time.
Enough words… If you want to know more, you can see the concert here.
Now, let’s continue our work and go towards great new adventures. J
