What is WDSD?

World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD), 21 March, is a global awareness day which has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012.

What is Down syndrome?

Down syndrome (or Trisomy 21) is a naturally occurring chromosomal arrangement that has always been a part of the human condition.

The best people to answer many questions about Down syndrome are people with Down syndrome so over to them…

Light up

Landmarks around the globe light up for World Down Syndrome Day like the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

Get involved

Every year we encourage people with Down syndrome, families, advocates, professionals and organisations to observe WDSD with your own activities. Here are a few ideas to get you started.

The #LotsOfSocks campaign

The #LotsOfSocks campaign exists to raise awareness of Down syndrome.

All you need to do is choose some socks that are going to get noticed. Get your friends, class mates and colleagues to join in too.

Get the conversation started. We will do the rest!

Each year the voice of people with Down syndrome, and those who live and work with them, grows louder.

Join in with us to create a single global voice for advocating for the rights, inclusion and well being of people with Down syndrome on 21 March.
