The World Down Syndrome Day Conference is an international conference held on or as close as possible to World Down Syndrome Day, organised by Down Syndrome International and sponsored each year by Permanent Missions of UN Member States and international agencies and non-governmental organisations. The Conference has a theme each year, which broadly aims to advance the human rights of persons with Down syndrome and disabilities, utilising the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD) and other human rights instruments. Speakers comprise a wide cross section from countries around the world and include professionals, advocates and self-advocates.
For further information on the UN CRPD visit the UN Disabilities website.
