Get involved in World Down Syndrome Day 2019
World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) is celebrated on 21st March each year, a day which has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012.
All around the world, communities come together to help raise awareness of what Down syndrome is, what it means to have Down syndrome, and how people with Down syndrome play a vital role in our lives and communities.
You can find events and activities taking place in your area on the World Down Syndrome Day website and in the Facebook Event for World Down Syndrome Day 2019. You are welcome to share your own event here too. There is a deadline to have your event included on the World Down Syndrome Day website which is 15th March.
Many World Down Syndrome Day events will be raising funds for Down syndrome charities; these charities rely on donations to conduct their work. Please support them if you can.
If you are planning to raise funds for World Down Syndrome Day please consider donating a portion of the funds to Down Syndrome International’s (DSi) Global Support Campaign. DSi work hard to improve the lives of people with Down syndrome around the world, particularly those living in developing countries where they may have very limited access to health care, education and employment opportunities and quality of life is very poor.
You can read more about fundraising on the World Down Syndrome Day website.
However you choose to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day this year we hope you have a great day.
