Mahyar from Iran
Hello there, my name is Mahyar Pilehvar Javid from Iran.
I am 23 and was born with Down syndrome but it doesn’t mean I can’t live my life fullest.
I am a champion in swimming. I won 2 silver medals in the Special Olympics World Games USA in 2015 and 2 silver medals in Abudhabi 2019 World Games.
3 years ago after finishing high school, I setup my business and got a barbershop. Actually, I am a barber.
I play piano, football, badminton, and guitar. Also I am a cyclist, a painter, a theater player, and a singer.
All I want to say is disability doesn’t mean inability.
My parents are so supportive and ran a Down syndrome charity organization to support people with Down syndrome in my city. So I motivated and paved the path for them.
If parents believe in their children with Down syndrome, half of the problem is solved.
Never underestimate your abilities, you have nothing less but a chromosome more, this is called the kindness chromosome.

The best way to raise awareness of Down syndrome is for people with Down syndrome to share their own stories in their own words.
If you have a story or message that you would like to share with the world, please click HERE and complete the form. Remember to include a photo.
We will share your words, along with your photo, on the World Down Syndrome Day website and on our social media pages.
We look forward to hearing from you.
